How can you achieve a Healthy Body for an overall Physical Wellbeing?

  • The only way to achieve a healthy body is to acquire knowledge and  learn as much as you can about it.

  • We are going to help you in this journey and show you the following important factors that you have to take into consideration to achieve a healthy body and so improve your quality of life.

Eight important facets of everyday Physical Wellbeing are as follows:

Exercise

  • Doing physical exercises improves your mental health and therefore your overall wellbeing because it releases “feel-good” chemicals (endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine) which would allow our whole body and mind to reduce stress, anxiety and depression.

  • It can also help with the following:

  1. Helps to improve focus and concentration

  2. Improves self-steem

  3. Enhances sound sleep

  • Remember that any physical activity is better than none.  Make sure to allocate time to exercise and start building up slowly.

  • Wherever you are, choose the physical activities that you enjoy the most.  These can include dancing, yoga, pilates, running or walking by the beach, Tai-Chi, martial arts, using weights, swimming, rowing, artistic dancing, or even just moving your body with joy repeatedly during day.

  • Start in the morning by stretching your body and awakening your senses. When you are at work try to become more active as much as you possibly can. When you are doing family activities, try to move your body.

  • Exercise according to your physical possibilities and make it enjoyable and rewarding. If you have an injury, medical condition or a physical disability, consult a doctor first, so you are able to tailor a routine of exercises and physical activities that best fit your needs.  We can help you in this journey to achieve one milestone at a time.

Nutrition

  • A healthy diet can improve your mood, energy levels and clarity of thought. It can also help with mental health conditions like depression, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease.

  • Nutrition has an important influence on physical and mental wellbeing. A healthy diet and an optimal hydratation can help you age well and perform better at work, studies and your quality of life.

  • A diet that contains abundant quantities of proteins comes with several benefits that improve mental health due to an increasing of serotonin or “the chemical substances for wellness” in the brain, and a reduction of cortisol, the stress hormones in the body.  Aim to avoid foods that are high in added sugars, salt, saturated fats and refined carbohydrates.

Food Security / Insecurity

  • Food Security ensures that you have access to enough safe and healthy food to meet your nutritional needs. It is very important to maintain a secure food condition.

  • Food Insecurity occurs when people are unsure where they would get their next meal from, due to lack of resources or when there is not access to nutritious food due to the cost of living, temporary financial setbacks, systemic discrimination, chronic health conditions, and conflict and climate shocks. If you are suffering from any of these conditions we are able to provide you with resourceful contacts who can help you.

Self Care

  • It is fundamental to learn how to look after every aspect of our life, i.e. physical, social, cultural and emotional. Self-Care is about making the right choices to preserve your physical and emotional integrity.

  • Self-Care is about treating your body with respect and love.

  • One way to look after yourself is through healthy eating habits and physical activities that bring you joy.

  • It is very important to recognize the need for self-care and to respect your body in order to prevent illness, injury or even in managing a chronic condition

  • For example, a disciplined routine of going to bed before midnight and getting your 8 hours sleep will make you feel  happier and more optimistic at the start of your day.

Oral Health

  • Maintaining healthy teeth and gums is important for overall health. Mouth infections have the potential to spread inflammation throughout the body; in turn diabetes and cardiovascular diseases are linked to chronic inflamations.  The less inflammation in your body, the better you´ll have of improving your general health.

  • In order to prevent disease and ensure the wellbeing of your teeth and gums, visit the dentist once a year for regular check ups or as required; keep your diet low in sugary drinks and snacks, and clean your teeth twice a day with the right toothbrush and suitable toothpaste.

  • In addition, keep in mind that a healthy smile will attract good vibes to your social relationships.

Regular Health Check-ups

  • It helps you to catch potential health issues early, so personalised medical attention and regular check-ups are important to prevent serious illness or to treat them at an early stage. Visit your doctor once a year or as required.

  • It is very important to monitor your physical wellbeing when you look after your nutrition and include a program a routine of exercises.

Community and Nature-based Health Services

  • When possible, asking your family and closest friends for support is an essential element of mental health treatment and overall wellbeing. It is also very important to look for community support groups: peer support groups, community hobby groups and support networks. We would be more than happy to assist you in connecting with these groups.

  • Contact your GP for information about psychological support in your community, or for psychological or psychiatrical referral. They will give you very useful tools for managing situations and emotions, and become an important part of your support net.

  • There are also nature-based practices available in Australia, including bush adventure therapy, ecotherapy, equine assisted therapy, therapeutic horticulture, amongst others. You and your friends can share common goals; e.g. you could have a gym buddy, join a local sports team, etc.

Sexual Health and Wellbeing

  • Make sure you are sexually safe.  If you are sexually active, visit your GP to inform you of the birth control method that best suits your person and way of living.  It is very important to consider that engaging in risky sexual behaviours or not taking any preventative measurements, can lead to unwanted pregnancies or even STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections).  If by any chance you had an unsafe sexual contact, go to your GP for a check-up.
